Role Specification for Company Software US Technical Application Consultant-Must be technical with SQLSoftware 1 Company Software Overview Company Software Ltd is a software company providing solutions to the Life Sciences industry. Companyrsquos Company Software software product is used by most of the top 20 bio-pharmaceutical companies to aid them in the pursuit of more rapid drug discovery. Company was established in the Late 1990's, is privately owned and funded, and profitable. Company has 10 US-based staff, in sales and support. Most of these staff are based in the Company US office in the Boston MA area others work from home offices spread throughout the country. Companyrsquos main UK office has 70 staff. 2 Job Overview This is a technical, customer facing role, supporting projects for Company customers in the USA, but working as part of a UK-based team of 20 application consultants. The technical aspect of the role is focussed on SQL scripting of configuration in Company Softwarersquos Oracle database, and integration with robotic automation systems (liquid handlers, automated stores, etc.) 3 Responsibilities 3.1 Company Software Implementations The successful candidate will Gain a broad knowledge of the functionality and detailed workings of Companyrsquos Company Software product suite Work closely with Business Analysts to understand requirements and document the required Company Software configuration Implement new Company Software systems and updates to existing Company Software systems, largely through the use of configuration in the Company Software Oracle database Perform on-site installations and upgrades, integration testing, and troubleshooting of Company Software with hardware (liquid handlers, automated stores, etc.) Develop and deliver customer training Provide guidance to customers on migrating existing data into Company Software 3.2 General The successful candidate will Maintain an active, visible, ongoing, and excellent working relationship with customers Customers should feel confident in their interactions, whatever the specific role is in a project Demonstrate ability to build a rapport with key customer business representatives Understand the customerrsquos business processes Translate customer business process to Company Software workflows Provide, organize and maintain communication to the Company Software Development group based on customer feedback and customer reported issues Highlight changes that could be made to eliminatealleviate customer support and application installation issues Provide input for ongoing product development and process improvement based on customer feedback Demonstrate personal time management throughout the year by delivering work to agreeddeadlines Provide estimates for personal work, and stick to those estimates Follow Companyrsquos Project Management processes Keep Project Manager informed of progress issues Make suggestions for solutions andor workarounds Possibly, make use of MS Project or other task time management tools Occasionally need to adopt flexible working hours, e.g. to support West Coast customers Report into an Application Consultant Team Leader in Company UK Preferably, be located in the Company US office in Westborough MA oralternatively,located froma home office close to a major US airport. If located from a home office, the home office must have a reliable and fast internet connection, land telephone service, and strong cell phone signal Initial training would be done from Companyrsquos UK office Need to travel, typically 30 of the time, to customer sites in the US Degree-level educated in a numerate discipline A technical background in software, research informatics, engineering or other relevant area 2+years of experience in support role of customer data management and software solutions Strong, excellent, proven customer relationship skills Proficient in Oracle SQL Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with a variety of 3rd party software and hardware systems Good time estimation, task switching and prioritisation skills ability to plan personal work load to meet varying multiple project or task deadlines Excellent internal and external verbal and written communication skills Excellent work ethic, both alone and as part of a team Ability to work well in remote, non-supervised customer locations Familiarity with the implementation and configuration of lab automation systems, e.g. robotic liquid handlers, automated stores, tube rack scanners, electronic balances.
